Robert Kwas
Much of the artist’s work reflects his early years in Wisconsin, with exposure to its natural beauty and farm scenes. He began private lessons at age 9 with
H. H. Smithers, a local artist.
He later attended the University of Wisconsin/Racine, and graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where he studied with William Mosby and Irving Shapiro.

After a long career as an advertising Art Director/Graphic Designer in Chicago, Robert recently began to devote full-time to painting. He uses watercolor to combine two lifelong loves – nature and art. In his work, he paints to capture a moment – a moment in the timeless stampede of a stream, or the patterns and textures of light on an eroding structure of another day. Painting nature the way he feels it, he hopes the viewer will see it in a new light.

Robert has exhibited nationally, is a signature member of the Illinois Watercolor Society and has received numerous awards in area art fairs and exhibitions. His work appears in private and corporate collections in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida. He is currently represented by the Harrison Street Cooperative Gallery in Oak Park, the Oak Park Art League and the Geneva Artists & Gallery in Lake Geneva Wisconsin and the Deer Path Gallery in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Robert has taught watercolor at the
Oak Park Art League and Illustration
at Triton College, River Grove, Illinois.
